Hypnosis is a therapeutic technique in which clinicians make suggestions to individuals who have undergone a procedure designed to relax them and focus their minds.
Although hypnosis has been controversial, most clinicians now agree it can be a powerful, effective therapeutic technique for a wide range of conditions, including pain, anxiety and mood disorders. Hypnosis can also help people change their habits, such as quitting smoking.

_Hypnosis, also referred to as hypnotherapy or hypnotic suggestion, is a trance-like state in which you have heightened focus, concentration and inner absorption. When you're under hypnosis, you usually feel calm and relaxed, and you can concentrate intensely on a specific thought, memory, feeling or sensation while blocking out distractions.
Under hypnosis, you're more open than usual to suggestions, and this can be used to modify your perceptions, behavior, sensations and emotions. Therapeutic hypnosis is used to improve your health and well-being and is different from so-called stage hypnosis used by entertainers. Although you're more open to suggestion during therapeutic hypnosis, your free will remains intact and you don't lose control over your behavior.

The Bottom Line

Hypnosis can help with: Weight-loss, Sports, Confidence / Anxiety, Habit Changes
and many other challenges in your life. The mind is a complex system of beliefs & habits, many of which were programmed during childhood. The subconscious mind is responsible for executing these established beliefs & habits. In short, the subconscious doesn't think it just acts, whether the beliefs are positive & constructive or negative & detrimental. The conscious mind, on the other hand, is responsible for analyzing data, reasoning, and logic. For instance, your conscious mind may want you to lose weight. It may understand the health benefits and actively consider the true value of having a body that looks better. However, the subconscious mind may simply love chocolate candy, ice cream, & other fattening treats, thus self-sabotaging the good intentions of the conscious mind. Therein lies the conflict, and unfortunately the subconscious mind is king. This is why it's possible to want one thing, but behave in a way that produces an opposing end result. The goal of hypnosis is to place your conscious mind into a relaxed state and give your subconscious mind suggestions that it can internalize as known beliefs and act upon more easily.
How does it work?
We'll use what's called a hypnotic induction to guide you into a relaxed state. You will feel peaceful, calm, and relaxed - as if daydreaming or napping yet fully aware and responsive to our words. Your conscious mind, The Great Debater, will be less apt to over-critically analyze and/or reject the positive beliefs you're attempting to make a more actionable part of your daily life. We'll then provide you with those positive suggestions so that you will not only believe that they are true (in the conscious mind) but know that they are within your subconscious where your mind and body will then be free to act upon them.
It is truly an amazing process!
